Axt Arabic FontsEarlier this month, Saudi Arabia joined the list of countries to ban social media. Now, citizens are finding themselves in a state of limbo when it comes to their access to news about the world outside their borders. What does this mean for all things connected to the Arabic language? Languages in general have been given less attention recently by tech giants like Google and Apple, so it's even harder for many users who want to learn languages today. As an Islamic language with a rich written heritage and multiple dialects, Arabic deserves much more attention than it gets. How are Arabic learners able to get their hands on these fonts? The simplest solution would be to buy them online. However, this leaves out all the people who live in countries where Arabic isn't widely spoken or even taught anywhere. As an alternative, or in addition to purchasing them individually, I've included links for the most used letters. To make it easier for myself when writing this article, I decided to just use the letters that I've already mentioned in previous articles when referencing font information. I've included the numbers that appear above each letter in the list below. The true test of their usefulness is how close they are to the CSS format I've listed above, so let's see how they fare.Schaumasse 3 Free Font - Download at House IndustriesSchaumasse 3 was designed by Philippe Apeloig for Mars Type Foundry. It appears to be completely compatible with Arabic language syntax, which makes it great for both simple writing and fancy designs that need more than just plain letters normally would.
